Sr. Game Designer at Firaxis Games
(Economics & Combat Lead )
Edward grew up in China, shouting Mandarin on street-ball courts while sneaking in English rap lyrics. At 16 he crossed the Pacific, scored an Econ degree at Emory, then powered up with a Georgia Tech master’s in game design.
Today he crunches numbers as the Economy & Combat Design Lead on Civilization VII, after a stint designing Pokémon games. He moonlights at University of Maryland, teaching students that supply-and-demand curves are basically DPS charts—much to the delight of YouTube videos and interviews that keep calling.
When not tweaking in-game yields, he’s chasing his runaway dog around his backyard and plotting a return trip to the mountains.

Over the years of my professional career I’ve split my design energy between two flagship franchises—Pokémon TCG and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, both live-service titles with millions of fans.
You can probably find my name in most Pokémon Card boxes of recent years.
Lead designs on Empire Management, Cities & Towns, and every Economic core system in Civ 7.
I'm also the Combat systems lead -- the only dual system lead in Civ 7.
